Folder & Image Naming Conventions

When creating an email which contains images or media files, naming conventions for the file itself determine how it is processed in an email client.

When rendering HTML in an email, the email client e.g. Outlook, will look at media, links, and files to find any potentially threatening content. For example, an image could appear as intended but hide a link which leads to a malicious site. This means you must be aware of any specific wording or file paths which may be blocked as it appears spam like.
Certain words and naming conventions also increase your spam score significantly. An obvious example would be naming an image with any inappropriate or expletive language. But a more likely scenario would be a spelling mistake or grammatical error. Spaces and symbols also affect your spam score, making it more likely that your image will be blocked.

The following conventions also apply to the folders within CommuniGator. This is because the file path is shown within the images associated link, so any inappropriately named or badly spelled folder names will be flagged as spam also.

Three important naming conventions to stick by

1. Do not use spaces in file names

2. Make sure your image is named appropriately and spelled correctly!

3. In the file name only use alphabetic or numeric characters, no symbols.
