Dynamic Content Blocks

Dynamic content is used to send one email, with different content, imagery and buttons, to the group associated with the campaign depending on the values stored in CommuniGator's database.

For example, tailoring the content could be sending out a newsletter displaying articles that are relevant to the recipients job title. i.e. if the job title is marketing they would receive that related content.

Editor

1. Insert the content, imagery, or read more button for the dynamic content area.
2. Select the icon that looks like a jigsaw puzzle to set your dynamic criteria.

Setting the Block Rules

1. If you're looking to add content to the area that is built up of multiple rules, you have the ability to change the rule from "Any" to "All". -

   - Any = any rule criteria allows the recipient to have any one of the rules if they meet the criteria.

   - All = they must meet all of the criteria listed in the rule.

2. Field-
Select the field that you would like to set the dynamic content around. The field list is built up of the fields that exist within your Contact Fields. In order for the dynamic content to work you need to ensure that data is imported into the relevant fields either via a CSV import or via the integration with your CRM System.

3. Operator-
Select the operator which allows you to narrow or expand the focus of your search. For example, 'Is Equal To' is a direct match of your value, whilst 'Is Like' is similar to your value.

4. Value-
This value is what the recipient has to have/meet. In the above example, anybody who works in the 'position' 'which is like' 'marketing' has the content displayed.

5. This allows you to create another rule for the Dynamic Content.

6. Allows you to group rules together.

7. Save Dynamic Content-
Will save the dynamic content block

As demonstrated above, you will be able to identify the block that has had dynamic content applied to it as it is highlighted in a green dashed border.

To amend the dynamic content click on the jigsaw puzzle icon.

Using Dynamic Dates in your blocks

For example, it might be that you want only those over the age of 60 to see a certain body of content, image or link within a block in an email to tailor the message. If we hold this data as a date in their “dateofbirth” field, then we would take the below process:

  1. We would select the attribute, in this case ‘DateofBirth’.
  2. Then we select the operator, as we want the rule to apply to all those over the age of 60, we want to use “LessThanOrEqualTo”.
  3. We then insert the date, so in this case the date of which someone would be 60 years old (So born in 1952).

Please note  this date needs to be in the exact same format as the field being looked at. To find out the format of the date in your instance, go into the contact record of someone that holds data against the field, click on the pencil icon to show the data in its true format and copy the date from here (you can then change the date but keep the same format).

If we wanted those under the age of 60 to see the block, we would take the exact same approach as above, but swap the operator of “LessThanOrEqualTo” to “GreaterThanOrEqualTo”.

If for example we had a certain date range we wanted to apply to the rules, such as those aged between 18 and 35 we can take a similar approach but this time add two rules:

  1. We would add a new rule and select the field, in this case ‘DateofBirth’
  2. We would select the operator of “LessThanOrEqualTo’ for the lower age
  3. Then add in the date in for those aged 18
  4. We would then add another rule to the rule group and again select the ‘DateofBirth’ field.
  5. We would this time add an operator of “GreatoThanOrEqualTo’ for the upper age
  6. Then we would add the date in for those aged 35.
  7. Finally, we want to make sure there is an “All” between between both rules rather than ‘any’ so that the dynamic content is looking at both rules rather than either.

The examples above are using the ‘DateofBirth’ but the same rules can apply to Contract dates etc.
